New Jersey Peace Action held a webinar on January 22nd to mark the 5th anniversary of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons’ entry into force. Anduin DeVos and Timmon Wallis spoke on what to know about the Treaty and what it means for us in the campaign to abolish nuclear weapons.
Event Description:
Anduin DeVos is former Campaign Director of NuclearBan.US, where she organized national campaigns for the Warheads to Windmills Coalition. Anduin is currently working as a Communications Consultant for IPPNW and Outreach Coordinator for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation.
Timmon Wallis is Executive Director of NuclearBan.US and long-time nuclear disarmament activist and author. His most recent book, Nuclear Abolition: A Scenario (2025), describes some of the steps already being taken, and more that could be taken, to lead the world out of this nuclear madness.
Anduin will kick off with a presentation about how and why the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons came to be, and how the Treaty provides a pathway to a world free from nuclear weapons with legal, financial, and normative pressure on nuclear weapons companies and States.
Timmon will then describe how we can use the treaty in the US to work on divestment, boycotts and stigmatization of these corporations and add to the pressures on them coming from countries who are party to the TPNW.
