WHY AND HOW?
How can we kick our fatal addictions to fossil fuels and nuclear weapons before it’s too late? Burning petroleum can wipe out humanity over the coming decades, nukes in an afternoon. There is hope, if we pull out all the stops and do what we can.
Why do we still have these industries? Follow the money! Corporate profiteers have the power to make Congress keep passing fossil-friendly laws AND funding expensive, unnecessary nuclear weapons of mass extinction.
What can we do about it? A bad reputation can affect a company’s profits, and so can divestment and boycotts. Public pressure – that’s all of us — can force them to shift to more socially responsible products, and they can demand government support for doing so. This strategy has worked before, and we can do it again!
